Axonom Named In Gartner Innovation Insight for Visual Configuration Report 2018

Report Explores Visual Configurators and VR/AR Products Available in 2018

Gartner has released its 2018 Innovation Insight for Visual Configuration report. This is the second edition of the visual configurator report. The first report was published in 2017.

Gartner Analyst, Mark Lewis contacted Axonom and 18 other visual configurator providers to explore the configure, price, quote (CPQ) space, and provide key findings, risks, and recommendations. The full report can be found here.

The 2018 Visual Configuration report dives into the following CPQ features: 2D visualization, 3D visualization, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, floor space planning (FSP), and CAD generation.

I have noticed one big difference in this report compared to the 2017 issue. The number of 2D/3D visual configurators in production has more than tripled in the last year. Augmented and virtual reality has also jumped up in a big way.

Virtual Reality at CES ShowAxonom has experienced this level of growth as well. Our virtual reality business has grown dramatically since 2016.

Per this report, Axonom owns 42% of the VR market (of the vendors interviewed). Discover how six manufacturers are using both mobile and computer-based Powertrak Virtual Reality at trade shows.

Visual product configurations with virtual reality proved to be a game-changer for one client. Precision Medical used Powertrak VR on a smartphone to showcase several possible layout designs.

They passed the smartphone around to a group of architects, planners, surgeons, director of nursing, project manager, staff managers and technicians.

The group was so impressed with this experience that they awarded Precision Medical with the project before they had walked out of the building.

“Powertrak 3D Product Configurator and Virtual Reality are effective tools to communicate design concepts and help end-users visualize the recommended products. In a recent meeting where we leveraged Powertrak 3D and VR, we were selected the chosen vendor by a facility yielding a potential half-million dollar sale.” - Robert F. Sariego, Precision Medical

Gartner states, "Not all 3D visual configurators are created equal. The weakest can only generate a 3D depiction on demand... Better solutions will continually regenerate the image in real-time as changes are made. Only a few 3D visual configuration tools support 3D depictions that you can interact with via drag-and-drop and hot spots."

The Powertrak Visual and Virtual Configurator suite doesn't rely on third-party apps. It's all built on the same platform.
